At the halfway point between April Fools Day and Tax Day (and who can tell them apart any more, really?) I guess it’s fair to give away the game and reveal up front that the new products listed on this page at Archie McPhee are all totally made-up hilarious comedy jokes. And I think we all agree that hilarious comedy jokes are THE BEST KIND.

I bid you behold the Cap’n Danger Baby Chute.

They say at least one of these fake items is on its way to becoming a real existing item in the universe, which would have seemed ridiculous before the advent of Handerpants. And reality television.


The power of PR compels you

I don’t have a lot of constructive comment about stories like this:
Child abuse claims sweep Catholic Church in Europe
The whole thing, and the church’s public reaction, just reminds me of a line from Monty Python:

As a naval officer I abhor the implication that the Royal Navy is a haven for cannibalism. It is well known that we now have the problem relatively under control.

… which seems to be the church’s PR strategy. There’s also a line from Mike Berbiglia:

I was an altar boy, and before you ask: No.

I can’t say whether the church officials have forgotten their vows, but it seems pretty certain that they’ve forgotten the lessons of Watergate.
